Dr. Jim Berg

Jim led Bob Jones University’s student life staff for 30 years before becoming a professor of biblical counseling at BJU seminary until 2024 when he retired from BJU after 50 years of service. He now occasionally teaches adjunct biblical counseling classes for BJU Seminary.

He holds an MA in theology from BJU and a DMin in biblical counseling from Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary.

He is a certified biblical counselor under the Association of Certified Biblical Counselors (www.BiblicalCounseling.com). He also holds an addiction specialist rating with ACBC and is a Commissioned Addiction Biblical Counselor with The Addiction Connection (www.theaddictionconnection.org).

He has authored numerous books including Basics for Believers, Changed into His Image, Essential Virtues, Overcoming Your Addiction God’s Way, God is More Than Enough, and Quieting a Noisy Soul—a multi-media personal study program addressing guilt, anger, anxiety, and despair.
